Too
often eat white rice increases the risk
of type 2 diabetes.
Products
with more fibers are a better
choice for health.
The
study was conducted by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health. They
wanted to determine whether there is indeed a link between eating white rice and the risk of type 2 diabetes . They
wanted that relationship also calculable. They analyzed the results of various
studies in which the quantity of absorbed white rice and the prevention of diabetes of type 2 were indicated. The studied data were all
together about 350 000 people. There were also data from Asian countries -
where the consumption of white rice
traditionally much higher - compared with those from the West.
The
connection was indeed established. The difference in risk between the groups
with the lowest consumption of white
rice and those with the highest consumption - Asians - but was just 50%.
In western countries, the increase in risk only 12%. But it remains a globally
established fact: with each additional serving of white rice per day increases the risk of type 2 diabetes by 10%.
Why is there a link between white rice and diabetes type 2?
The experts also
have an explanation: many starchy foods such as white rice does the sugar in
our blood to rise rapidly. And a diet that increases blood sugar, is unfortunately
one of the causes of diabetes type 2.
White rice
is actually a highly refined cereal that contains almost no fiber more. Fibers and protect our
network against diabetes.
